Self-trust has helped me a lot when building resilience. Like being in relationship with anyone, building trust with yourself, especially if you have a history of abandoning yourself, takes time. You have to prove to yourself, and the inner child part of yourself, that you can be trusted.
When you first meet your inner child, she / he may not trust you at all. In fact, she may be very mistrustful of you. That is okay, over time, you can learn to re-parent your inner child and totally transform your inner landscape and relationship with yourself.
